Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Danish international playmaker Christian Eriksen after making him an offer.

The Daily Star claim that United are leading the race for Eriksen whose short term contract with Brentford expired this summer.

The Bees are among the clubs who want him back but the report says United’s £150,000-a-week offer has put them in the driving seat.

The report also says that United have been through multiple rounds of talks with Eriksen, which are progressing well.

The report says that United have made a verbal offer to Eriksen now and would like him to sign for the club on a two-year deal.

But Eriksen is waiting to see who United sign before deciding whether to make the move to Old Trafford.

United are seemingly getting there with progressing multiple deals at the same time, with Frenkie de Jong, Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez all moving along now.

David Ornstein has backed United to sign de Jong and Eriksen, with Malacia set to be ten Hag’s first signing.

Eriksen’s comeback to Premier League football was one of the stories of last season and United legend Gary Neville was among those impressed.

He called Eriksen ‘spectacular‘ back in May, saying that he had been ‘so good’ since he came back to English football.

Eriksen should be a low-cost way to improve the quality of United’s midfield options, and with pre-season training approaching, decision time is coming up for the Dane.
