Manchester United were frustrated to miss out on the signature of Jude Bellingham in 2020, and have gone on to watch him become a superstar.
Bellingham chose to follow Jadon Sancho’s path and prove himself abroad at Borussia Dortmund. It has worked, he is the midfielder every top club want to sign.
United remain among the interested clubs, even if The Mirror speculate his price could reach a staggering £150 million.
There is a hope that Bellingham will follow Sancho for a second time and head to Old Trafford, the pair are close and regularly interact on social media.
The problem is, quite a substantial one, Sancho’s struggles at Manchester United hardly put forward a convincing case to join.
In fact Sancho’s failure to so far excel at United is more of a cause for Bellingham not to follow his path, and make a different move. Fortunately there is still time to change this.

Sancho could yet hold the key
The attraction of joining up with Sancho is somewhat negated by the winger’s form, so it is imperative United fix this.
Getting Sancho back on track is already likely to be a priority for United. He is a highly talented player who the club spent £73 million on, who scored and assisted goals for fun in the Bundesliga.
In England, Sancho has found success harder to come by. He has had big moments, with goals against Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, and assists against Tottenham and Arsenal, which in itself sounds very good, but he has been unable to tie it all together outside of these impactful moments.
Erik ten Hag has sent the winger on an individual training camp in the Netherlands, a chance for him to re-focus in a change of environment, amid the disappointment of missing out on England’s World Cup squad.
Sancho can make a real difference to United’s season, and could end up deciding the race for the top four, or even a trophy.
If he can end the season in form, and achieving one of the club’s goals, it will prove Erik ten Hag has reset the club on an upwards trajectory.
This could turn out to be a very influential factor in the Bellingham race. If he sees his pal thriving at Old Trafford, it will turn what can currently be viewed as a weakness in United’s argument, into a big positive.
