Manchester United need attacking signings with an eye for goal, which explains why Victor Osimhen has emerged as one of the top transfer targets for the summer.
Manchester United lost 1-0 to Wolves at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon, falling to another defeat and ensuring it’s the worst Premier League campaign the club has suffered to date.
It has been a turbulent campaign, especially in front of goal, with United finding the net just once in the last four Premier League matches. That cannot continue next season if Ruben Amorim if planning to improve the team.
However, United have reached the Europa League semi-finals and remain unbeaten in Europe.
Ahead of the 2025/26 season, United are being linked with many players, including Premier League duo Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap. The intention is to pay their respective releases at Wolves and Ipswich Town.
Those deals could cost United up to £100m, but the Red Devils are also being linked with options in different leagues, such as Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres.

Victor Osimhen scores 30th goal for Galatasaray
One name that continues to be heavily linked with a move to United is Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.
The 26-year-old is currently on loan from Napoli, spending a season at Galatasaray, where he continues to prove himself as a lethal goalscorer.
Osimhen scored the opener in Galatasaray’s 5-1 thrashing over Konyaspor to secure their place in the final of the Turkish Cup. The Napoli loanee opened the scoring at the Torku Arena on Tuesday.
In the quarter-finals, Osimhen scored a brace as Galatasaray beat Fenerbahce 2-1 in a feisty encounter, which had four red cards.
The Nigeria international scored 76 goals in 133 appearances for Napoli and he is set to leave the Italian club permanently this summer. He has proven himself as one of Europe’s most prolific scorers in recent years.
Manchester United working on deal to sign Victor Osimhen
Reports are gathering pace on Osimhen’s potential move to the Premier League, with multiple clubs said to be in the running for his signature.
Osimhen is in the final six weeks of his loan spell at Galasatray and is on course to win the Turkish league and cup double.
According to Tuttosport, United remain interested in Osimhen and are working on a possible deal ahead of the summer transfer window.
The report adds that United have reached a ‘basic agreement’ with Osimhen over his salary but nothing has been agreed with Napoli.
It is understood that Osimhen has a £64.2 million release clause in his contract, which expires in 2026. The release clause can only be triggered by clubs outside Serie A.
United hope to get Osimhen for £40m since he has entered the final year of his current deal in Naples.
Amorim has just one striker to select from in his squad for the remainder of the season, with Joshua Zirkzee injured. That means there is more pressure on Rasmus Hojlund even though the Denmark international has struggled for goals throughout the season.
