Manchester United are keen on signing a new goalkeeper, with David de Gea looking set to depart for free next week.
The Spaniard’s Manchester United days look to be over after over a decade of service. The 32-year-old’s contract extension previously seemed like a formality but following a horror-show in the FA Cup final, things have changed.
United now instead are set on bringing in a new number one, while they allow David de Gea to leave for free. There has been several names linked with a move to Old Trafford however it appears there are three which appear most likely; Jordan Pickford, Andre Onana and Diogo Costa.
The last of these names 23-year-old Costa has been many fans desired keeper for over a year now. He seems to have it all despite his fairly young age, which means he can only get better.
Costa wins ‘best’ award
As transfer rumours heat up, the Portuguese goalkeeper’s stock has only continued to rise. Added to as he was confirmed to have won the ‘Best Goalkeeper’ award for the 2022-23 Liga Portugal season.
The Porto keeper was voted by the coaches and captains of all 18 sides in the league to be the best, high praise.
Costa kept 16 clean sheets while only conceding 22 goals in 33 games proving himself to be not only a brilliant distributor but also a shot stopper.

Winning the award won’t be new for Costa as this is his second consecutive triumph confirming his status as the leagues best.
Costa has a £65 million release clause, but United are believed to want to pay less than that. The interest is high as Fabrizio Romano has confirmed, he added that the Portuguese side are targeting replacements.
Costa would make a world of difference to the way United play, representing a polar opposite to the current number one.
