Trabzonspor plot second loan swoop for Man Utd’s Andre Onana

Trabzonspor are impressed with Andre Onana following the Manchester United goalkeeper’s season-long loan in Turkey.

Andre Onana joined Trabzonspor on loan at the start of the season, after it became clear he was no longer considered the first choice under Ruben Amorim.

Since then, Senne Lammens arrived and is widely recognised as United’s best signing of the season after solidifying his place in the line-up under Amorim and now Michael Carrick.

That means Onana is unlikely to have a future at Old Trafford, with United expected to try and cash in on the Cameroon international this summer.

Trabzonspor want to keep Andre Onana on loan

The final round of fixtures in this season’s Turkish Super Lig took place over the weekend.

Trabzonspor lost their last game 3-0 against Gençlerbirliği, but they finished third in the league standings.

Onana played a key role in Trabzonspor’s high finish, making 32 appearances across all competitions, and they will compete in Europe next season after qualifying for the Europa League.

Galatasaray were crowned champions, with Fenerbahce finishing second to secure the last Champions League spot in the Turkish league.

Now that the season is wrapped up, Trabzonspor are planning for the summer transfer window, and they want to keep Onana.

The problem for Trabzonspor is that they cannot afford the transfer fee United would demand for such a deal to materialise.

According to Haberts, Trabzonspor are identifying an alternative for Onana if they can’t sign him on loan for a second consecutive season.

It is understood that Onana’s transfer fee exceeds Trabzonspor’s budget.

The report claims that negotiations between United and Trabzonspor are progressing positively.

How much is Senne Lammens worth now?

Man Utd got a real bargain… how much of a bargain?

No World Cup for Andre Onana

Cameroon’s failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup means Onana has the entire summer to sort out his future.

Even if Onana returns to United, the 30-year-old is unlikely to take Senne Lammens’ place in the team.

The 23-year-old Belgian stopper has been a huge improvement on Onana since moving to Old Trafford from Royal Antwerp.

That should mean Onana’s days at United are numbered, regardless of what happens with Trabzonspor’s attempts to sign him on loan again.
