Brentford manager Thomas Frank is keeping a close eye on Manchester United players likely to depart Old Trafford this summer.
It has been a miserable season for Manchester United in the Premier League, with Ruben Amorim’s side sitting in the bottom half of the table.
The only way United can salvage their season is by winning the Europa League. It would not only guarantee a Champions League spot, but the triumph would also help the club financially ahead of a busy transfer window.
United need to lower the wage bill, so players coming to the end of their contracts are expected to move on and many of them are coming to the end of their playing careers.
Four United players could see their contracts expire this summer, including Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton.

Thomas Frank eyes Christian Eriksen swoop
The fourth player on that list, set to see his contract expire in June, is Denmark international Christian Eriksen.
The 33-year-old signed for United on a three-year deal after departing Brentford after the end of his six-month contract with The Bees.
Brentford manager Thomas Frank remains open to the idea of re-signing Eriksen, who he believes is among the best Danish players in recent times.
Eriksen has made 28 appearances for United across all competitions this season, scoring four goals and registering as many assists. That’s the same amount of appearances as last season when he struggled with more injuries and recorded a total of just four goal contributions.
Speaking to Danish media on Monday, Frank admitted he would be open to welcome Eriksen back to the club once he leaves Old Trafford.
“Christian is a fantastic player and probably the best Danish player in recent times,” Frank said, as quoted by Tipsbladet.
“There’s no doubt that he really wants to play more and had a really good time when he was with us. I’m open to all players, but of course, there are lots of things that need to be finalised when it comes to transfers. In any case, I would say that nothing is closed.”
Eriksen hints at Premier League snub
Thomas Frank has made it clear that he wants to re-sign Christian Eriksen, but he will need to convince the classy midfielder to remain in the Premier League.
Eriksen is planning to move away from the Premier League, where he has spent the majority of his senior career, having also played for Tottenham Hotspur.

“The intention is not to stay in England,” Eriksen said during the March international break. “I’m not going to the USA, we’re not going that far. We’d like to stay in Europe, but it’s too early to go home to Denmark.
“I feel like I have some good years abroad left. When you go back to Denmark, I feel like it’s really about family and finishing your career, and that’s fair enough, but I’m not there yet.
“My ambition is still to play for the national team, and therefore I don’t feel it’s time to go home. That consideration has nothing to do with the attention on me, it’s about where my football career is. I’ve lived abroad longer than in Denmark, so moving to Denmark will almost be like moving to a new country.”
