Ten Hag sends scouts to watch Rangers kid Jack Wylie

Erik ten Hag has sent Manchester United scouts to check on Rangers youngster Jack Wylie, reports the Daily Record.

Wylie, 16, is yet to sign a professional contract with Rangers and United are reported to be looking to snap him up.

The defender is also reported to be attracting interest from Arsenal, making Rangers’ task to keep him even more difficult.

United are claimed to have watched Wylie in action several times. He has represented Scotland at under-16 level.

Rangers have lost top talents Billy Gilmour to Chelsea and Rory Wilson to Aston Villa in recent seasons.

Signing young players has become more difficult for Manchester United since Brexit, with the club now only able to sign UK citizens under 18.

This means the days of swooping on Real Madrid’s academy for Alvaro Fernandez or Atletico’s for Alejandro Garnacho are now over.

Manchester United’s young Scottish talent

United do have a handful of young Scottish talent already in the youth system, with centre-back Jack Kingdon representing his country at under-17 level.

Centre-back Louis Jackson has also recently switched to represent Scotland at under-18 level. He was previously an England under-16 international.

Winger Malachi Sharpe has also played and scored for Scotland’s under-17s. United signed him from Derby two years ago.

Wylie could become the latest young Scot to join United, and aim to follow in Scott McTominay’s footsteps.
