Manchester United continue to be linked with a move for Porto striker Mehdi Taremi.
Every striker Manchester United have signed in the past four years has something in common: They are over 30.
With that in mind, rumours linking the Red Devils to Porto forward Mehdi Taremi should be taken seriously, like it or not.
Taremi, 30, is on Manchester United’s radar, reports JN.pt report. The Iranian hit 31 goals in all competitions for Porto last season.

Mehdi Taremi linked to Manchester United
Portuguese newspaper A Bola also reports the Manchester United links, writing that he “has been followed for some time by the Old Trafford club and Erik ten Hag appreciates the qualities of the Iranian.”
Taremi is also now entering the final year of his contract at Porto and could be sold at a discount.
In a separate interview, the topic of leaving Porto was put to Taremi and he has expressed that he has turned down approaches from Newcastle and Everton in the past 12 months.
He told JN.pt: “I received a proposal from Newcastle last summer, but at the time I didn’t think they were going to form such a strong team and fight for the Champions League. They were fighting not to be relegated.
“Even now, for example, the offer I have from Everton doesn’t interest me.”
Al Hilal are interested too, however O Jogo report the striker wants to stay in Europe.
An offer from a club with Manchester United’s prestige is probably enough to change Taremi’s mind.
As a short-term option, offering experience alongside a younger Rasmus Hojlund, Taremi might be a useful addition for Manchester United.
The past season has shown Anthony Martial cannot stay fit, and Ten Hag likely needs two forwards recruited this summer rather than just one.
Considering United’s track record of signing 30-something strikers, this is certainly one to watch.
