Manchester United are now taking a look at Mason Cotcher with the teenager making an appearance off the bench for the Under-18’s on Saturday.
United’s first team are in action today, facing a potential banana skin against Newport County in the FA Cup.
Some fans may have had one eye on the United Under-18’s on Saturday as they faced Leeds United on Saturday afternoon.
This was a convincing victory for United, hammering Leeds 4-0 with Gabriele Biancheri, Bendito Mantato, Zachary Baumann and Ethan Williams all on the scoresheet.
Fans may have been surprised by one of the names to make an appearance though with Mason Cotcher coming off the bench in the second half…
Mason Cotcher on trial at Manchester United
Ex-Sunderland talent Cotcher was named on the bench and by that we mean fully named by United rather than just named ‘trialist’.
Cotcher came on in the second half and may be hoping to land himself a deal at Old Trafford.
The 17-year-old has earned two caps for England’s Under-17’s and was considered to be a top prospect in the Sunderland ranks.
Primarily an attacking player, Cotcher hit 10 goals in 19 games last season and has attracted major interest as a result.
Sunderland were unable to tie Cotcher down to professional terms in 2023 and that means the teenager is now moving on.
United are now having a close look at Cotcher and could potentially pounce where Arsenal didn’t…

Arsenal have shown Cotcher interest
Cotcher joined Arsenal on trial earlier in the season and spent considerable time with the Gunners.
The teenager joined up with Arsenal in October and was still there more than a month later having featured in Under-18 games.
The Telegraph even suggested in November that Cotcher had been called into first-team training by Mikel Arteta having shown some promise.
Two months on, Cotcher still hasn’t signed for Arsenal and United have now moved in to take a look at him ahead of a possible deal.
We may now see Cotcher feature in more Under-18 games moving forward as United weigh up whether to strike a deal in the coming weeks.
