During Erik ten Hag’s time at Manchester United, the Dutchman was certainly backed with the funds to turn things around at Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag was handed over £400 million during his three summers in charge of Manchester United but questions have been asked about some of those deals that the Dutchman signed off on.
The issue of striker additions was something that plagued Ten Hag’s spell at Old Trafford with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee having moments of promise but failing to deliver consistently.
During his spell as manager, Ten Hag was always keen on adding strikers to his squad and it appears Ruben Amorim is set to do the same if reports are to be believed.

Erik ten Hag was keen on Randal Kolo Muani as well as Rasmus Hojlund in 2023
During the summer of 2023, a new striker was desperately wanted by Ten Hag with Cristiano Ronaldo departing Old Trafford back in 2022, with French striker Randal Kolo Muani one of those strikers that United were keen on.
However, United ultimately signed Hojlund for £64 million, which makes him one of the club’s most expensive signings of all time.
Prior to United signing Hojlund, it emerged, via a report from The Athletic, that Ten Hag wanted two strikers and not just the Atalanta forward during the summer window.
The report states that alongside Hojlund, Ten Hag wanted the Eintracht Frankfurt forward but ultimately United did not make a move for Kolo Muani.
Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe hailed Kolo Muani as ‘complete’ back in 2023 and a move to the Premier League could now be on the cards.
18 months on from United’s initial interest in Kolo Muani, it appears that Amorim could come back in for the French forward.
Ruben Amorim now wants Kolo Muani at Manchester United
According to a report from French outlet Le10 Sport, United have made direct contact with Paris Saint-Germain over a loan move for Muani in the upcoming January transfer window.
Discussions are set to continue between the two sides but it is reportedly up to the player as to whether he will make the move to Old Trafford during the winter window but Amorim is keen on the 25-year-old.
Amorim could certainly use a striker like Kolo Muani in his squad due to the versatility that the Frenchman would offer the Red Devils.
Earlier this month, Muani was asked about his future at PSG by French outlet Telefoot and seemed keen on remaining in the French capital.
“You have to keep the mental side. It is up to me to continue to work so that the manager trusts in me. I am keeping my head on my shoulders and I’m going to continue to work,” he said, before being directly asked whether he still has the hope of establishing himself at PSG: “I hope so,” he responded.
