Manchester United and Ruben Amorim are now facing growing competition in the race to sign one player in the summer transfer window, according to reports in Italy.

The Manchester United first-team squad is undergoing a squad overhaul under Ruben Amorim ahead of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign at Old Trafford.

Amorim’s major summer signing for the transfer window so far has been the arrival of Matheus Cunha from Premier League side Wolves for a £62.5m transfer fee.

Diego Leon also arrived at the Premier League club this summer, having agreed to sign for United back in January when he was at Paraguayan side Cerro Porteno.

Amorim’s men will soon embark on their pre-season tour both in the United States and Europe ahead of the Premier League season officially starting in August.

However, the 40-year-old United manager is still expected to see new signings arrive at the Premier League club before the summer transfer window shuts in September.

Man Utd-linked Vanja Milinkovic-Savic has sparked more transfer interest amid his playing spell at Torino

Vanja Milinkovic-Savic has attracted Manchester United’s interest and the 28-year-old Spanish-born player has made a name for himself at Serie A side Torino.

The Torino shot-stopper is out of contract with the Italian club in 2026 and Vanja Milinkovic-Savic has made 158 appearances for Torino since his 2017 move.

Milinkovic-Savic had been viewed as a potential transfer alternative to Andre Onana, whose future at Old Trafford is up in the air under United manager Ruben Amorim.

United have been tipped to bring a new shot-stopper to Old Trafford this summer, with the Red Devils heavily linked with Aston Villa ace Emiliano Martinez.

Journalist Ciro Venerato (via CalcioNapoli24) now reports that Leeds United could enter the race to sign United-linked Milinkovic-Savic from Torino this summer.

Leeds United are one of two clubs that could rival Man Utd in the race to sign Torino star Vanja Milinkovic-Savic

Leeds United won the Championship crown in the 2024-25 campaign and United’s rivals will now return to the Premier League for the 2025-26 season.

Daniel Farke’s side have registered their interest in Vanja Milinkovic-Savic and Serie A champions Napoli are also reportedly keen on landing the Torino player.

Milinkovic-Savic does have a release clause and will cost clubs outside of Italy a £17m (€21m) transfer fee to land him from Torino in the summer window.

However, the Serbia international is cheaper for clubs in Italy, with Milinkovic-Savic’s release clause only costing £16m (€19m) amid the interest from Leeds and Napoli.
