Ruben Amorim addresses Manchester United deadline transfers, club’s latest stance

It remains to be seen if Manchester United will get any business done on transfer deadline.

The Reds are waiting on the potential departures to see whether it frees up enough room on the wage bill, with Manchester United and Arsenal linked with a late move for Bayern Munich’s highly-rated Mathys Tel.

Marcus Rashford has been linked with a move to Aston Villa and could leave ahead of Monday’s deadline. It also means United are running out of time at a stage where key decisions are required.

Ineos should be trying to give Ruben Amorim every chance at turning the season around.

It doesn’t help that United’s atrocious home form is holding Amorim’s side back in terms of kicking on and gaining momentum. United lost 2-0 against Crystal Palace and they had no firepower in attack.

That could be fixed with a bit of shrewd business in the market.

Ruben Amorim open to more deals on transfer deadline day

United unveiled two new signings at Old Trafford ahead of the game against Crystal Palace. Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven were introduced to the United faithful before kick-off as they took an unforgettable selfie on the pitch.

The reporters wasted no time after the match asking whether Amorim plans on adding more talent to his squad on deadline day, which is tomorrow.

Amorim remained coy but stressed that United will be trying to improve the team if an opportunity presents itself.

“We are trying everything to improve the team without doing the mistakes of the past,” Amorim said, as quoted by Simon Peach.

“We will see. There is one more day.”

Manchester United need another striker – What about Tel?

Amorim’s decision not to start a striker may have been a warning to the Ineos board that action is required, with Rashford likely to depart Old Trafford.

It told everyone that Amorim doesn’t fully trust Rasmus Hojlund or Joshua Zirkzee to lead the line in United’s first-team.

This could be an opportunity for another young striker to come in because teams will be trying to avoid losing their main stars midway through the season.

A loan deal for Tel would steer United away from any long-term commitment but another striker option is needed at the very least.

The 19-year-old is not starting games for Bayern Munich because he is behind Harry Kane in the pecking order, so a move could make sense for all parties and it would give him a chance to test himself on the biggest stage.

United would not be signing a proven goalscorer by any means. Tel would be coming looking to prove himself.
