Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is ready to ‘fight’ for his move to Manchester United right up until the transfer deadline.
United brought Christian Eriksen into the midfield against Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon, with Mason Mount out injured.
Eriksen scored the crucial goal to haul United back into the game having been 2-0 down early on.
There were still midfield problems though with Forest runners able to break forward with little resistance.
Casemiro is being asked to cover too much space at this stage in his career whilst Eriksen’s mobility and defensive instincts aren’t quite suited to being the long-term answer.
United remain in the market for another option in midfield and there is no doubting who the top target is for Erik ten Hag.
Sofyan Amrabat prepared to fight for Manchester United move
Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is the top target for United having worked with Ten Hag at Utrecht in the Netherlands.
This rumour has been around for months now and yet United still don’t have a deal done for the Moroccan.
Fabrizio Romano has now been speaking about Amrabat on YouTube with United still chasing an agreement.
MORE UNITED STORIES
Romano claims that Amrabat will be fighting to join United before the deadline and again mentioned that he has been waiting for United to make a move since the end of June.
In fact, Amrabat is ready to wait some more with the midfielder prepared to wait until the very end of the window in order to secure his dream move to United.
Romano adds that Amrabat will not play for Fiorentina before the transfer window closes, meaning he will miss today’s game with Lecce and the Europa Conference League clash with Rapid Wien on Thursday.
Amrabat has made it abundantly clear that he wants to leave but United still need to actually make their move to sign him.
“Amrabat will fight to join Manchester United, will do his best to join Manchester United, he’s already doing his best because he’s waiting since the end of June,” said Romano. “Now is really, really important for Manchester United to make a bid to Fiorentina because contacts between the clubs took place multiple times through intermediaries, but there is still no formal bid to Fiorentina. Fiorentina are waiting, they are still expecting Manchester United to make a move but, at the moment, still no proposal on the table. Amrabat is gonna wait and wait and wait until the end of the transfer window.”
“Also, let me mention that the player is not in Fiorentina’s squad for Sunday’s game and he’s not going to train with the first squad until the end of the transfer window. His message to the club is very clear: he wants to leave as soon as possible,” he added.

Amrabat makes sense for Manchester United
Other midfielders have been linked in recent weeks.
Amadou Onana of Everton and Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch have been heavily linked of late.
Both are physically imposing midfielders but are more box-to-box players at this stage in their respective development.
United need a midfielder with more defensive attributes right now and Amrabat fits that bill.
The Morocco star can play alongside Casemiro in midfield or fill in for the Brazilian as the primary holding midfielder when needed.
Amrabat still has plenty left in his locker at 27 and a price of around £30million would be pretty decent business given how the market for midfield players has exploded of late.
