There is ‘still no clarity’ regarding a loan move to FC Twente for Manchester United’s Premier League youngster Facundo Pellistri.
Only time will tell, of course. Pre-season can only tell us so much, even if a handful of quite dazzling performances over in the USA have raised the excitement levels to almost earmuff-requiring levels at Old Trafford.
The lack of first-team minutes afforded to the winger in 2022/23 – coupled with reports suggesting that Pellistri could be loaned out – certainly suggest that Erik ten Hag does not quite share the belief some supporters have about the firecracker Uruguayan making an Alejandro Garnacho-style breakthrough in the senior set-up.
Patience required for Facundo Pellistri
Ten Hag is reportedly advising Pellistri to spend the coming campaign on loan at FC Twente in the Eredivisie. There is also interest from Brazilian outfit Botafogo.
But, with just three weeks of the window remaining, Twente expert Leon ten Voorde believes that Pellistri’s immediate future is still up in the air.
“About the possible arrival of Facundo Pellistri from Manchester United, there is still no clarity,” he tells Tubantia Inside.

Decision due over Pellistri
A move to the Eredivisie may be seen by some as a low-pressure development year for Pellistri; the 21-year-old honing his talents away from the unforgiving glare of the Premier League.
That, however, is not quite the case. Pellistri would arrive under pressure to replace one of the most influential and creative widemen in the Eredivisie; Vaclav Cerny and Virgil Misidjan both leaving De Grolsch Veste this summer.
“FC Twente are diligently looking for reinforcements which will improve the squad in both quality and depth,” Ten Voorde adds, pointing out that Pellistri is not the only winger on their radar.
“One of the players who is a candidate is former Vitesse and Heerenveen player Mitchell van Bergen. The fast winger is under contract with the French club Stade Reims.”
