Manchester United could send winger Amad Diallo back on loan to Atalanta as part of a move for Rasmus Hojlund.
Atalanta forward Hojlund is becoming a prime target for Erik ten Hag this summer.
The Athletic claim that Hojlund is keen to join United this summer and talks are expected to be held soon.
Yet that report also added that Atalanta have told Hojlund that he can only leave for €100million (£85million), more than double what was expected.
United won’t be paying that kind of money for Hojlund this summer and may need to get a little creative.
Reporter Steve Bates – formerly with The Mirror and The Sunday People – has now told Give Me Sport that United could send Amad Diallo to Atalanta.
Erik ten Hag is allegedly happy to let Diallo leave on loan for another year after shining with Sunderland in the Championship.
A loan return to Atalanta is now on the table as part of a potential move to land Hojlund.
Diallo joined Atalanta as a teenager and came up through their ranks before joining United in 2021.
The Ivorian only played five senior games for Atalanta but was rated highly by boss Gian Piero Gasperini.

That may just pave the way for Diallo to make a return to the Seie A side and continue his development back in Italy.
This could work out for all parties; United would get the striker they want in Hojlund without paying over the odds.
Hojlund has enormous potential but is still learning his trade at 20. 10 goals in 34 games this past season a promising record but £85million would be a staggering risk.
Diallo would be able to go back to familiar surroundings and test himself at a higher level, hopefully aiding his Manchester United future.
Atalanta may still command a hefty fee for Hojlund even if Diallo is included, but this seems like a smart idea for United.
