Manchester United’s board are reported to have given the ‘green light’ for a deal for Cody Gakpo.
90Min report the United hierarchy have begun work on a deal to sign the Netherlands international.

Rapidly developing
Gakpo is widely regarded to be United’s top target. The Mirror reports Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has already been in contact with the forward.
A report from The Telegraph last week claimed United want to launch a £43.1 million move for the player, although there could be an acceptance the price will rise further due to his World Cup performances.
90Min‘s report further emphasises United’s desire to get a deal done. There is reported to be interest from other clubs, but the Red Devils are in pole position.
When can a deal be done
In theory a deal can be agreed now. Back in December 2019, Borussia Dortmund agreed a deal with Red Bull Salzburg to sign Erling Haaland, beating United to the punch.
This move went through on January 1, when the transfer window officially opened.
United could strike an agreement with PSV Eindhoven now, with the transfer to be made official when January begins.
