Manchester United would allegedly allow Harry Maguire to join Aston Villa on loan – but not Newcastle United.
That is according to The Sun, who claim that Newcastle want to take Maguire on loan.
However, United are prepared to block that move because they don’t want to strengthen a direct rival.
United would sell Maguire to Newcastle due to the finances involved but a loan to St James’ Park is out of the question.
Newcastle finished four points behind Erik ten Hag’s side and will be top four challengers once again next season.
United don’t want to aid them by loaning them Maguire, but could allow a temporary exit elsewhere.
Newcastle have plenty of money, so to look to loan Maguire rather than buy is pretty laughable on their part.
The Sun claim that Aston Villa want Maguire and United would be more open to a loan deal with Unai Emery’s side.
Villa have impressed under Emery but may still be a little short of truly challenging United next season.
