Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer points out that Leon Goretzka still has a ‘long-term deal’ amid reports linking the Germany international with Premier League giants Manchester United.
The Red Devils and the Bundesliga champions could find themselves sharing plenty of column inches this summer.
Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen, Rasmus Hojlund, Declan Rice and Rasmus Hojlund have, at one point or another, all been linked with both Manchester United and Bayern Munich in recent weeks and months.
TalkSPORT, meanwhile, say that Bayern’s own Yann Sommer is one of the goalkeepers on Erik ten Hag’s radar. And then there is Leon Goretzka too; Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg claiming that United are ‘monitoring his situation’, the relations between the two clubs pretty convivial following the deal which saw Marcel Sabitzer join the Old Trafford outfit on loan in January.

Manchester United eye Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka
Bayern were happy to let Sabitzer go; the all-action Austrian falling down the pecking order at the Allianz Arena. You can expect a different story with Goretzka however.
The former Schalke ace is, after all, a major reason why Sabitzer had found opportunities so hard to come by in Bavaria.
“There are rumours about FC Bayern every day because our players are popular,” Hainer tells BILD TV, addressing the speculation surrounding a man who has won the Bundesliga title in each of his five seasons as part of FC Hollywood’s all-star cast.
“Leon Goretzka signed a long-term deal with us,” Hainer adds.
A Mason Mount back-up
The Bochum-born 28-year-old is currently under contract until the summer of 2026. If we were to hazard a guess, we’d suggest that Goretzka – an athletic, box-to-box midfielder with an eye for goal – is likely to be viewed at United as something of a back-up option, if deals for Mason Mount and/or Adrien Rabiot come a cropper.
“In the last two or three days, Manchester United confirmed their intentions to go for Mason. They are not changing their minds,” Fabrizio Romano explained earlier this week.
“They are confirming that they want him. (United) have a contract proposal ready, they know that Mason is prepared to say yes. They sent a positive message to Mason Mount, saying it’s time to wait now.
“The negotiation between Manchester United and Chelsea is not easy. Chelsea want around 80 million euro for Mason Mount, no less than this. We know United are not prepared to pay that money for a boy out of contract next summer.
“There is this kind of strategy game. But Man United have been very clear with the player, telling him he can wait because United will work on that deal in the coming weeks.”
