Manchester United will have to pay a substantial fee to sign Ukrainian playmaker Georgiy Sudakov this summer.
Back in December, Manchester United were linked with a move for the Shakhtar Donetsk prospect.
The reports came via Italian outlet TuttoJuve, which claimed Manchester United are watching Sudakov, and threaten Juventus’ own attempts to sign the player.
Georgiy Sudakov though, was not a player Shakhtar wanted to let go cheaply, believing he could be their next major sale to follow Mykhailo Mudryk’s move to Chelsea in 2023.
And these hopes of a big cash-in have taken another step forward.
Sudakov signs new deal
According to Fabrizio Romano, Sudakov has signed a contract extension which Shakhtar which will run until 2029.
Romano writes on X: “Agreement has been reached. New deal will be valid until June 2029. Understand it will include release clause worth more than €100m. One to watch in the summer, top talent on list of many clubs.”

This release clause works out in excess of £85 million. It is a substantial fee which Shakhtar would be lucky to receive.
What it does do, is strengthen their hand in negotiations, ensuring that even if a lower fee is accepted, it won’t be cheap.
Sudakov, 21, is a full international for Ukraine with 12 caps and has featured in the Champions League this season.
He scored in a match against Barcelona in the group stages, and has three goals from 18 appearances this season.
Manchester United will likely be looking at cheaper options in the summer. Sudakov is a talent, but an unproven one, with Mudryk’s inconsistency at Chelsea not helping Shakhtar’s hopes of landing a mega-offer.
