RB Leipzig are willing to sanction a loan deal for Manchester United target Timo Werner, according to reports.

Manchester United and Erik ten Hag look to be in the market for a new striker in the winter transfer window as Anthony Martial may well be on his way out of the club.

Rasmus Hojlund has scored just once in the Premier League for United and his struggles in front of goal and Ten Hag’s inability to take the Danish striker out of the firing line has seemingly contributed to his struggles.

As a result, United are reportedly in the market for a striker on loan, according to The Athletic, and Timo Werner may well be the man most likely to move to Old Trafford.

Werner move now could be on

According to a report from The Mirror, Leipzig are open to the idea of loaning the German striker and Werner himself is said to be open to the prospect of joining United at Old Trafford.

Werner, 27, is on United’s list of targets, alongside Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting as the Red Devils go into the market looking for a back-up number 9 to replace Martial, who has been linked with a move to Turkey for a small fee.

Former Chelsea striker Werner spent two years at Stamford Bridge and scored ten goals in the league before returning to the German side.

Werner was a big flop at Chelsea as he struggled to score consistently for the Blues and seemed to have a knack for missing big chances.

Werner could be ideal for the Red Devils

Despite his struggles in front of goal, his pace and athleticism make him a unique option up front for the Red Devils and he could be the exact kind of striker they need.

During games when the Red Devils are on the back foot, which is usually most games against the top 10 times in the division, having Werner’s speed could be vital.

Unlike Wout Weghorst, who struggled and was relatively slow compared to the other forwards at United’s disposal, Werner could be a signing that adds something different.

A loan may not be the worst idea in the world.
