Erik ten Hag should definitely be keeping a close eye on Arsenal target Xavi Simons who looks like he will become available for a small fee this summer.
The 20-year-old Dutch midfielder has been balling out for PSV Eindhoven this year and has a ridiculous 22 goals and 12 assists for his club in all competitions this season. There have been brief rumours that Simons could be on United’s radar after his fantastic performances – but nothing concrete.
He’s been working closely with ex-Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy this season until he was sacked by the club. There have been brief rumours that Simons could
He’s one of the hottest young talents in world football and this is why we believe Manchester United should be monitoring him closely this summer.

A creative spark
The creative midfielder is a really tidy player.
He mainly operates in the CAM slot but has also proved his worth as a LW in the front three. He oozes creativity and is a fantastic transitional link-up player.
Bruno Fernandes is currently the only United player who seems to have an ounce of creativity in him going forward. Bruno is also one of United’s players who has played a monumental amount of games and without him in the side, we do look a little lost.
Picking up Simons would mean we have a great backup should Bruno not be available and he can also play in the same team with Bruno pushed back to an eight, or if ten Hag decided to deploy him on the left.
Absolute bargain
For a player with so much potential and already undeniable quality. Simons can be picked up for a bit of a steal.
According to a report from the Dutch media site, NOS – Simons will be available for a similar price to that of Cody Gakpo’s price tag, which was around £35m.
For a player with his stats this season, that’s a steal. His age makes this even more appealing, as it significantly reduces the risk of losing money if the player was to ever be moved on.
PSG do have first reserve on the player due to a clause in his contract when he left the French club for free. If they decide not to bring him back, he’ll be moved on elsewhere, with Arsenal heavily rumoured.

Dutch connection
Erik ten Hag has already raided the Eredivisie in the last window for some of their brightest stars. Lisandro Martinez, Antony and Tyrell Malacia have already been fantastic pickups, so why not add another to the ranks?
Ten Hag will also be able to communicate with Simons in Dutch if he were to move, which will make the daunting process of moving to English football a little easier.
He could become a world beater
Simons currently has the world at his feet. A Dutch legend who also was a phenomenal playmaker in Rafael van der Vaart has even said the midfielder can go on to become a ‘world-class‘ operator.
His step up to PSG was too quick for him, but after going away to a smaller league he’s thrived and it may have now given him the confidence to move elsewhere and become one of the world’s best talents.
