Jean-Clair Todibo could well be the man for Manchester United as his impressive form for OGC Nice continues.

The French defender was heavily linked with Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United last summer and could be set to make a move in the Summer.

OGC Nice are doing well this season and currently sit top of Ligue 1 and Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s potential takeover of the club could help United in their pursuit of the French defender.

Jonathan Johnson the French football expert, writing in Fabrizio Romano’s daily briefing, has given his verdict on United’s move for the defender and whether it could happen in January.

Todibo’s form

Jean-Clair Todibo is a reliable passer, a brilliant dribbler and a tough tackler, he could be exactly what United need to improve their struggling defence.

Johnson claims that a move in the winter is unlikely but a summer move is much more likely. The Frenchman has now featured for his national team and that is said to have made the defender’s resolve to leave that much stronger.

Raphael Varane could well be the man to help Todibo settle in if the move is completed and Harry Maguire’s and Victor Lindelof’s place may well be under threat.

Todibo valuation

According to Johnson, the French side will demand £50 million for the defender if they continue their upward trajectory in the division and end up in a Champions League place.

Todibo would be a superb addition to the Red Devils and could line up alongside Lisandro Martinez, depending on how well the Argentine recovers from the injury that is set to keep him out until the turn of the year.

Ten Hag seems to be driving this deal but the harsh questions may well have to be asked, should the Dutchman be allowed to make another big-money signing without the input of a football director? Based on previous evidence, probably not.
