Manchester United are poised to sign Rasmus Hojlund just a year since Newcastle United fancied signing him.
Erik ten Hag finally looks set to land his new striker ahead of the Premier League campaign.
United have been chasing Atalanta forward Hojlund for weeks now and a deal is on the verge of completion.
Sky Sports report that United have agreed a deal worth £64million plus £8million in add-ons for Hojlund.
The Dane is still a raw talent but showed potential in Serie A last season having completed a move from Sturm Graz.
It all could have been so different for Hojlund though, having received major Premier League interest…
Newcastle United discussed Rasmus Hojlund move
The Athletic reported last summer that Newcastle United discussed making a move for Hojlund.
Newcastle tracked Hojlund closely but may have seen him as more of one for the future.
The Magpies instead went and signed the more proven Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad.
MORE UNITED STORIES
Hojlund ended up moving to Atalanta before the summer transfer deadline as the Italians struck a huge €17million (£14.5million).
That investment has proven to be a masterstroke for Atalanta, who are now facing a big pay day from Hojlund’s move to Old Trafford.
The hope now is that Hojlund can score the goals to fend off Newcastle, who have become a major top four rival.

Hojlund rise is quite astonishing
It’s only two years since Hojlund was heading into a Danish Superliga season with FC Copenhagen.
15 league games passed without a goal and come January 2022, he was sold to Sturm Graz for just €1.8million (£1.5million).
12 goals in 21 games put Hojlund on the radar of other clubs, such as Newcastle.
That’s when Atalanta pounced and after just nine league goals in 32 outings, he’s now heading for Old Trafford.
Hojlund has gone from being worth £1.5million to £14.5million and now £72million in just 18 months.
That’s a simply unbelievable rise and Hojlund will be hoping to justify his price tag in a United shirt.
