Midfielder with eight goals in 14 games reacts to shock Manchester United links

Nicolai Vallys has played down reports linking him with a move to Manchester United while insisting that he remains ‘really happy’ at Brondby.

Of course, Vallys stance could change quite dramatically if reports suggesting Manchester United are weighing up a shock January switch prove to be on the money.

Vallys, a late-blooming 27-year-old midfielder plying his trade in Denmark, is not exactly the kind of winter addition to get the hairs standing up on end at Old Trafford. But, with the Brondby playmaker allegedly valued at a bargain £5 million, he could yet prove to be an intelligent, low-cost, value-for-money addition for a United side set to be restricted to ‘cheap deals’ in the New Year (Daily Mail).

So while Vallys is keen to make clear how much he is loving life at Brondby, he could hardly be blamed for pursuing what could well be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity should it arrive at the Red Devils.

“I do not know (about those rumours). I don’t speculate on such things,” Vallys tells 3Point. “I’m really happy with where I am and where the team is right now. And I think it’s really cool to be a part of this.

“So I’m not in a hurry to get anywhere at all. We have a really exciting season right now. We have a great team and a great group, both on and off the pitch. So I’m just enjoying it.

“I’m not speculating.”

Bruno Fernandes back-up?

Vallys is unlikely to be viewed at United as a player capable of immediately improving Erik ten Hag’s XI. But he could add quality depth, plus a genuine goal threat to a profligate, wasteful side.

Vallys, who represents Denmark at international level alongside Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund, has scored eight goals in 14 Superligaen games this season, and could perhaps operate as a back-up to the overworked, occasionally over-burdened Bruno Fernandes.

According to Ekstra Bladet, Aston Villa have also scouted Vallys.
