Manchester United have been strongly linked with a move for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount.

The Athletic report Mason Mount is keen on a move to Manchester United, with his contract at Chelsea set to expire in a year’s time, with The Telegraph claiming personal terms have been agreed.

The move for the England international could prove to be a bargain, and many of the United squad know Mount well from the Three Lions set up.

One player who could have an uncomfortable reunion with the midfielder is Lisandro Martinez.

Mount clashed with Lisandro Martinez

Mason Mount was involved in a heated exchange with Lisandro Martinez during Manchester United’s draw at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season.

Mount was unhappy with a strong challenge from the Manchester United defender and squared up to him.

It took Luke Shaw to insert himself between the pair and move his England colleague away from Martinez.

Many fans at the time joked on social media that this was for Mount’s own safety, quipping that Shaw ‘saved his life’.

While the duo will put this aside and joke about it if Mount does sign for Manchester United, it does show the Chelsea midfielder’s spirited nature.

In not backing down from Martinez, foolish as that may have been, Mount may have further impressed manager Erik ten Hag.

United want players who will fight and stand up for themselves, and Mount fits the bill.
