Mason Greenwood stance on his future after start at Getafe

On-loan Manchester United man Mason Greenwood has reportedly made a decision about his future at the club after a good start in Spain.

It seemed like Manchester United and Erik ten Hag were keen on bringing Mason Greenwood back into the fold at the club, but after uproar from the fanbase, Greenwood moved to Spanish side Getafe.

Greenwood scored his first goal for the Spanish side last week and seems to be loving life at his new club.

A report from The Sun states that Greenwood is keen on making his move to the Spanish side permanent after his future at Old Trafford seems less than certain.

Greenwood’s stance

The report from the English outlet, who have been accurate throughout the saga with the English forward, states that Greenwood has been surprised by the reaction he has received from the Spanish side.

A source reportedly told The Sun that he is hoping to stay at the Madrid-based club for the foreseeable future, saying: “The players and fans have all given him a welcome he could only have dreamed of.”

It seems that his immediate future will be in Spain but if Greenwood gets his way then the United man will make his move to the Madrid-based club permanent.

United’s u-turn

As mentioned, United performed a U-turn on the decision to bring the forward back following their internal investigation but backlash from fans and fan groups led to them changing their mind.

Whether this will force United to go into the transfer market next summer remains to be seen but it is clear that the club does need a new right-sided attacker.

This is due to the ongoing situation with Jadon Sancho, as well as Antony. The money that Greenwood’s permanent exit from the club could generate the money needed to search for a replacement.
