Marcus Rashford’s move to Barcelona in doubt after Bernardo Silva development

Marcus Rashford’s future looks even more uncertain now that Barcelona have stepped up their interest in Bernardo Silva.

Now that the season is over, Marcus Rashford is hoping for a new deal that will see him return to Barcelona before the 2026/27 campaign begins.

The 28-year-old joined Barcelona on loan at the beginning of the season before going on to win the La Liga title under Hansi Flick. Although Rashford wasn’t a starter, he scored 14 goals and registered 14 assists.

Barcelona have a deadline to sign Rashford for £26m, but they’ve since reached an agreement over a £70m deal with Newcastle for Anthony Gordon, which only complicates the United loanee’s future.

What’s YOUR message to Marcus Rashford after Barcelona’s deal for Anthony Gordon?

Should Man Utd use this reality check to try and bring Rashford back?

Bernardo Silva deal would rule out Marcus Rashford transfer for Barcelona

Barcelona have known for a long time that Rashford wants to remain at Camp Nou.

The winger has made it no secret that he is happy at Barcelona, but the club are edging closer to a deal for fellow England international Gordon.

Reports in Spain also claim that Bernardo Silva has been offered to Barcelona by Jorge Mendes, following the Portuguese star’s contract expiration at Man City.

According to Sport, the potential arrival of Silva would rule out a deal for Rashford.

It is understood that contacts between Barcelona and Mendes have been ongoing, but have progressed significantly in recent hours.

Rashford may be left with no other choice but to return to United if a deal can’t be reached with Barcelona – or another suitor – before pre-season begins.

Marcus Rashford evidently does not want to return to Man Utd – There is no way back for him surely?!

Marcus Rashford could attract further interest at World Cup

Although United may be keen to get Rashford off the wage books, it may be wise to sit tight until the 2026 World Cup is over.

A strong World Cup campaign for Thomas Tuchel’s England side could see Rashford attract interest from other clubs willing to meet United’s asking price.

The biggest problem with selling Rashford will be his wages. He’ll likely need to accept a significant pay cut to move elsewhere.
