Manchester United’s £35m target labelled ‘more talented’ than £88m Chelsea man

Manchester United could follow Premier League rivals Chelsea in raiding Shakhtar Donetsk though Georgiy Sudakov is rated higher than the £88 million Mykhaylo Mudryk back home in Ukraine.

Nearly a year since he made that eye-watering switch to Stamford Bridge, Mykhaylo Mudryk has demonstrated only the odd glimpse of that £88 million potential. The odd searing burst of red-hot acceleration here. The odd whipcrack shot there.

Should Manchester United bring in Mudryk’s former Shakhtar Donetsk team-mate for a fee in the region of £35 million, it almost goes without saying that the Red Devils would be hoping for a little more end product (Corriere dello Sport).

According to TuttoJuve, there is interest from United, Arsenal, Barcelona and co in Georgiy Sudakov.

The skilful attacking midfielder, who once played under now-Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi at Shakhtar, inherited Mudryk’s number ten shirt and, according to some, comfortably outstrips the Chelsea flyer in terms of raw talent too.

Manchester United linked with Georgiy Sudakov

“Sudakov is the best football player in the Ukrainian league,” Yehor Danylov tells TuttoJuve. “Because of the war, the Ukrainian league lost many good players who now play successfully.”

Artem Dovbyk and Viktor Tsygankov, dovetailing to excellent effect at La Liga leaders Girona, come to mind, as does Ilya Zabarnyi at Bournemouth.

“Sudakov should be the next player to go and play outside the national borders, because he is the biggest talent in our league,” Danylov adds. “He is a very talented footballer who has an excellent passing and sees the pitch well.

“Some experts in Ukraine consider Sudakov a more talented footballer than Mudryk. He is a typical attacking midfielder, with good technique and good shooting.”

‘More talented than Mudryk’

Sudakov’s talent is yet to really translate into a consistent end product, however. A possible long-term replacement for Christian Eriksen should he move to Manchester Unted, Sudakov has only three goals and one assist across all competitions these season.

That has not stopped Oleksandr Zinchenko urging Arsenal to sign his fellow Ukraine international, however. Nor has it stopped Europe’s biggest clubs from sending their scouts flocking to Shakhtar.
