Manchester United XI for 2023/24 with Sheikh Jassim’s three favoured signings

Manchester United bidder Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani reportedly has plans for the transfer window already.

Whoever wins the protracted takeover battle for Manchester United (if anyone wins it at all), will need to get straight on with strengthening the squad for next season.

The transfer window is almost open, and according to one reporter based in Germany, Christian Falk, Sheikh Jassim has a plan already.

He is reporting that the would-be owner has identified Kingsley Coman, Eduardo Camavinga and Kylian Mbappe to lead his project forward.

How does he have this information? Well it’s possible that this has come from Coman’s side, who is based at Bayern Munich in Germany. But perhaps that’s giving too much credit.

It is safe to say most Manchester United fans are highly sceptical about all this. Sheikh Jassim has barely been seen outside of Qatar, so we are doubtful this transfer list is the real deal.

But we’ll play along. It makes for a good talking point, to take a look at just how Manchester United could look with his alleged proposed new signings.

Manchester United’s possible 2023/24 XI

The three potential signings range in variation in difficulty to pull off. Kingsley Coman is probably gettable at the right price. He is a winger who can play on either flank and would replace Jadon Sancho as a first team option.

Eduardo Camavinga will be tougher to sign. He has been at Real Madrid less than two years, winning the Champions League already. Why would he want to leave?

Kylian Mbappe is as difficult to sign as they come. He alone would cost the best part of £200 million and almost certainly makes this shortlist unlikely.

All the same, it’s fascinating to take a look at how these three players might fit in.

Mbappe would fix Manchester United’s long-term lack of centre-forward, while Camavinga would make the midfield younger and more dynamic, partnering his former Real Madrid teammate Casemiro.

Kingsley Coman can play on either wing, and in this case, would probably feature more on the right, considering Marcus Rashford’s prolific form this season and hopefully next.

This team surely won’t ever see the light of day – but if the ultra-rich Sheikh Jassim does manage to successfully buy the club, perhaps anything is possible.
