Manchester United are pushing to sign Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana and may be just a few days away from a deal.

That is according to Sky Sports, who claim that Inter are currently refusing to budge on their asking price for Onana.

It’s claimed that Inter want €60million (£51million) for Onana, who they signed for free last summer.

United have only offered £38.5million so far, but there is hope and confidence that a compromise will be found.

In fact, the report claims that all parties want to get this transfer sorted out before Onana returns to pre-season training with Inter.

That return date is July 13th, just 72 hours away.

There must now be a real push in the next couple of days to hit that deadline with United keen to wrap this one up.

Inter preparing for Andre Onana exit

Inter seem to be preparing themselves for Onana’s departure now with goalkeepers on their radar.

Veteran stopper Samir Handanovic is leaving after more than 450 appearances for the club and Onana is seemingly set to be sold.

Inter are now going for an experienced goalkeeper to replace Handanovic and then a younger prospect to replace Onana.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Inter are set to make a bid for Bayern Munich’s Yann Sommer once Onana to United is done.

Shakhtar Donetsk talent Anatoliy Trubin is wanted too with Inter seemingly viewing him as their long-term stopper.

If Inter had no plans of selling Onana, they surely wouldn’t be lining up these moves, so their pursuits will boost United.

Andre Onana seems an ideal Manchester United signing

United need a new first-choice stopper this summer with David De Gea confirming his exit over the weekend.

One of the big problems with De Gea has been his lack of ability with the ball at his feet.

The less said about Sevilla away in the Europa League, the better.

United simply had to sign a goalkeeper with more ability on the ball in order to truly develop Erik ten Hag’s approach.

Onana certainly fits the bill and has shown confidence on the ball at both Ajax and Inter, almost bordering on over-confidence.

There may be a few scares with Onana taking some risks on the ball but the way he can pass should add a new dimension to United.

Add in that Onana is only 27, has already worked with Ten Hag and previously played with centre back Lisandro Martinez at Ajax, and this seems like the ideal move for United.

£50million-plus would be a lot when Onana was available for free last summer, but United can’t go back in time and must now get their man in a big cash deal.
