Manchester United could move for Edmond Tapsoba in 2024 with the Bayer Leverkusen suiting what Erik Ten Hag is seeking.
The 2023 summer transfer window has only just finished and United fans are still learning about some of the new faces at Old Trafford.
United seemingly wanted one more signing too, with central defenders eyed up in expectation of seeing Harry Maguire join West Ham United.
Jean-Clair Todibo was a popular name in the mix but Maguire ended up rejecting West Ham and staying at United.
Maguire will surely move on in 2024 and United seemingly already have one eye on 2024 with a new defender wanted.
Manchester United want Raphael Varane competition
The Manchester Evening News now report that United want to bring in an ‘athletic’ defender because of Raphael Varane’s injuries.
The 2021 signing from Real Madrid has struggled to stay fit and is even out injured right now.
United are seemingly concerned that World Cup winner Varane just can’t be relied upon and another option in a similar mould is needed.
The report mentions that United like Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba and he could fit the bill.
MORE UNITED STORIES
United considered an approach for both Tapsoba and his Bayer Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong over the summer.
Maguire staying and Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s form meant those moves were but on the back burner but Tapsoba could be back on the United wish list.

Edmond Tapsoba chase has just become even trickier
United fancied Tapsoba over the summer but Leverkusen were understandably reluctant to lose their star defender.
Well, the Bundesliga side will be even more determined in 2024 after only recently securing Tapsoba to a new contract.
Leverkusen confirmed a new deal for Tapsoba just last week, handing him a contract until 2028.
Maybe there is a release clause in place but Leverkusen may now be in a position to command huge money for a player Simon Rolfes calls a ‘top player’.
24-year-old Tapsoba would be a very exciting addition at the back for United, but actually getting him to Manchester seems even harder now.
