Manchester United are considering a move to sign Denmark ace Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

The Telegraph report Tottenham are open to doing a deal for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, with Manchester United on contact over a move.

United are looking at ways to strengthen in midfield, after allowing Fred to leave, while youngster Kobbie Mainoo is out with an injury.

Hojbjerg has worked under Erik ten Hag before at Bayern Munich, and that’s not the only connection he shares with Manchester United.

Hojlund connection

Hojbjerg is a Denmark international with 65 caps to his name, plus five goals.

His more recent appearances have seen him witness to Rasmus Hojlund’s rapid rise, which has seen him strike six goals in six international goals, outscoring him already.

Hojlund’s finest performance came with a hat-trick against Finland, and Hojbjerg made a point of praising him after the game.

Hojbjerg told Bold.dk: “We also had someone up front who had fun.”

Eriksen connection

Hojbjerg knows Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen even better. The pair have played alongside each other 52 times for Denmark.

Hojbjerg was on the pitch for Eriksen’s collapse at Euro 2020, and told Sky Sports what an emotional moment it was for him.

He also admitted that he consulted Eriksen about Antonio Conte, when he was appointed at Spurs [via One Football], as his international colleague had worked with him at Chelsea.

If he does make the move to Old Trafford, he won’t need to ask him about Erik ten Hag. He knows him well enough already.
