Manchester United have held talks with the entourage of Axel Disasi to discuss a potential summer transfer.
That is according to French outlet Foot Mercato, who claim that United are ‘very interested’ in the Monaco defender.
They say that a £44 million summer move has been discussed for the player who has a contract which runs until the summer of 2025.
Apparently, several English clubs are keen on the man who is currently on international duty, but United are as keen as any of them.

Manchester United hold Axel Disasi talks with player’s agents
Two weeks ago, United representatives met with Disasi’s agents, but the report says that nothing was decided and a bidding war for his signature may ensue.
United held ‘initial talks’ with with Monaco over a move for the centre-back back in January, reported The Mail, and it seems that interest has progressed to a meeting with the player’s team.
French outlet RMC Sport report Bayern Munich are also keen on the defender and their season is not going wholly to plan, embroiled in a genuine Bundesliga title race for a change.
The centre-back was part of the France squad at the World Cup, and featured as a substitute in the final, where Lisandro Martinez’s Argentina won out on penalties.
It seems most likely that United would only get Disasi in if they let one of Harry Maguire or Victor Lindelof leave in the summer.
It seems one of the pair could be set to leave in the summer, to raise funds for Erik ten Hag to get more of the players he wants through the door.
That said, United’s priority is a striker, followed by midfield, so it would be surprising to spend more than £40 million on a central defender who would be far from guaranteed to start.
Disasi can also play at right-back, which is a role he would be more likely to get gametime in, but there are definitely greater priorities.
