Manchester United target Adrien Rabiot will be available on a free transfer this coming summer.

Juventus appear to have given up hope of convincing Manchester United target Adrien Rabiot to stay at the club this summer.

Rabiot is out of contract this summer and L’Equipe report Erik ten Hag has been in contact with the midfielder.

Interest from Bayern Munich has also been reported via BILD.

Rabiot ‘finished’ at Juventus

Juventus have failed to qualify for the Champions League next season, after their 10 point deduction.

Italian outlet Calciomercato report Adrien Rabiot is ‘finished’ at Juventus, with a headline: “Juve-Rabiot, it’s over: the Frenchman leaves the black and whites.”

Juventus are not even expected to make Rabiot an offer to stay, with the Frenchman making it so clear to them that he will be leaving on June 30.

In addition to referencing Premier League and Bundesliga interest, the report states Rabiot views staying at Juventus would be a step ‘backwards’ in light of his excellent individual campaign.

Rabiot ‘one of Serie A top midfielders’

Rabiot has performed well this season, scoring 11 goals for Juventus in all competitions and providing a further five assists. It is the most productive campaign of his career in front of goal.

His form has been so good that the Serie A social media team have nominated him as one of the three best midfielders in the league this year, along with Inter’s Nico Barella and Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, another staple of Manchester United transfer windows.

Whether Rabiot is the best, or even deserves to be ‘top three’ is open to debate, but this shows what kind of a season he has had, and why he believes he should be playing Champions League football next season.

Manchester United can offer this to him this summer. Last season talks broke down, because Rabiot wanted particularly high wages as compensation for dropping down to the Europa League. United walked away.

This time around he can join on a free transfer, essentially replacing outgoing loanee Marcel Sabitzer, who is heading back to Bayern, possibly complicating their efforts to add a midfielder.

Whatever lies ahead, it seems his time at Juventus is done pending the finale of Serie A this weekend. On a free transfer, United won’t need to wait on anything to move ahead with a deal if Erik ten Hag gives it the green light.
