Manchester United are reported to be scouting Belgian striker Lois Openda, who has been in prolific form.

Manchester United’s list of striker options are on the expensive side this summer, it seems. Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen, Randal Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos have all been suggested as potential options towards £100 million.

Even if United end up shelling out on one of these, it makes total sense to explore the more sensibly priced options who could be on the market.

Who is Lois Openda

Lois Openda, 23, signed for Lens last summer from Club Brugges for just £7 million. He has been an instant hit.

Openda had spent the previous season on loan at Dutch side Vitesse, where he scored 28 goals.

He has been prolific this season too, netting 19 goals in 38 games for Lens in Ligue 1, where he is the fourth highest scorer in the division, just five fewer than Kylian Mbappe.

Openda has also been called in the Belgium international squad too, with two goals at senior level. He previously struck 13 in 15 goals for the under-21s.

During the course of his campaign for Lens, Openda set a record for the fastest ever Ligue 1 hat-trick since 2000, with a five minute treble.

Foot Mercato reported last month that Openda could cost less than £30 million. But Lens might be reluctant to give him up.

Openda’s superb form has fired Raphael Varane’s former side to second in Ligue 1, six points behind leaders PSG, and on course to secure a Champions League spot for next season.
