Manchester United are reportedly the side who are posing the greatest danger for Italian sides who are interested in Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini, according to reports.
A new centre-back looks to be high on the list of targets for Manchester United in the summer with a defensive clearout seemingly on the way.
Lisandro Martinez could well be the only defender who’s future at Old Trafford looks to be safe but every other option United have in the heart of their defence could be vulnerable.
The Red Devils have conceded 29 goals in the Premier League this campaign and without Martinez, United have struggled to push the ball through the lines as often as they did last season.

Scalvini interest
As a result of this, one player who could well solve this problem and who would be young enough to develop at the club if he were to be brought in is Giorgo Scalvini.
A report from Calciomercato has detailed what the future holds for the Italian with a host of top sides in Serie A believed to be interested in the defender but United are posing the ‘greatest danger’ of scuppering these plans.
It’s worth remembering Scalvini has recently just put pen to paper with Atalanta over extending his contract at the club which will keep him in Bergamo until 2028.
With the new contract, his potential cost has risen with the Italian report claiming it could cost between £40-50 million to prise him away from the Serie A club in the summer, should teams enter the race for the 20-year-old.
Race is on to sign Scalvini
As well as United, teams from Italy such as Napoli and Inter Milan are showing interest but it’s difficult for them to meet La Dea’s asking price. Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Atlético Madrid are the clubs from abroad in the picture for the defender.
The reported asking price that Atalanta would want is not an ‘insurmountable fee’ for Erik ten Hag’s side but certainly with the size of the potential rebuild needed in the summer, United may struggle to reach that figure.
At this stage, there doesn’t seem to be too much in the interest from the Red Devils with a summer move unlikely, unless United sell and sell well.
