Manchester United are “planning to enter the race” for Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo, says Florian Plettenberg.
Caicedo revealed back in September he would have considered a move to Old Trafford if a bid from the Red Devils had been submitted during the summer transfer window.
The twenty-time league champions passed up on the opportunity of signing the 21-year-old for £4.5m back in January 2021 from Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle.

Caicedo did move to the Premier League with the Seagulls signing the talented South American.
While the likes of Jude Bellingham and Frenkie de Jong are likely to be higher on Erik ten Hag’s midfield wish list, interest in Caicedo could intensify if the likes of Bellingham and De Jong prove unattainable next summer.
Manchester United planning to enter the Moises Caicedo race, says Florian Plettenberg
Casemiro and Christian Eriksen were two world-class midfield summer acquisitions, but Ten Hag may look to bolster his midfield further next summer.
Fred’s contract expires in June, but The Guardian report that Ten Hag is willing to offload United’s number 17 despite the club having the option of extending his deal by a further 12 months.

Donny van de Beek was given chances by his former Ajax manager prior to the World Cup break, but the 25-year-old failed to impress in any of his outings.
A decision will have to be made on the Netherlands international’s future and while Casemiro was only signed three months ago, United’s number 18 turns 31 in February and Ten Hag may already be looking to identify the influential Brazilian’s long-term successor.
Caicedo has impressed since establishing himself as a key part in Brighton’s starting line-up.
The Seagulls have cashed in on their star men in recent years, and it seems that the Ecuador international is destined for a big-money move next summer.
Caicedo has only made 25 appearances for the Amex Stadium side, but he’s impressed in both of his appearances against the Red Devils.

Brighton’s number 25 scored his first goal for the Seagulls in the 4-0 win against Ralf Rangnick’s Reds at the end of last season.
The 28-time Ecuador international also stood out in Brighton’s 2-1 win against the Reds at Old Trafford in Ten Hag’s first Premier League game in charge of the club.
Former Manchester United captain and Caicedo’s compatriot Antonio Valencia has previously spoken about his desire for the Brighton midfielder to move to the Theatre of Dreams in the future.
Speaking to La Radio Redonda, the man who was signed from Wigan Athletic by Sir Alex Ferguson said: “I hope Moises Caicedo can go to a big team in England, he is a humble boy, he was born to be great and I hope he can come to Manchester United.”
Caicedo’s stock and valuation is likely to increase given he scored in the World Cup against Senegal – however his side have crashed out of the tournament after a 2-1 defeat.
Sky Sports reporter Plettenburg says, Manchester United are ready to go toe-to-toe with Liverpool and other top European clubs to sign the Ecuadorian – and finally bring him to Old Trafford.
