Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign Marseille striker Arkadiusz Milik, according to reports in France.

According to journalist Karim Bennani via GFFN, the French giants are happy to part ways with the 28-year-old this summer.

Having joined Les Phoceens on an initial 18-month loan from Serie A side Napoli, the Poland international moved to the Stade Velodrome on a permanent deal this summer.

However, with Jorge Sampaoli no longer at the helm, it looks like Milik doesn’t form a part of Igor Tudor’s Marseille plans despite netting 20 goals across all competitions last season.

With Cristiano Ronaldo‘s future unlikely to be resolved before the summer transfer window closes in 15 days time, Erik ten Hag was keen to bolster his striking options regardless of whether his number seven stayed at Old Trafford or not.

Anthony Martial impressed in pre-season but the Frenchman’s hamstring injury on the eve of the new season highlighted even further the need for reinforcements.

The Red Devils missed out on Slovenian wonderkid Benjamin Sesko and have been linked with a raft of forwards across Europe throughout the summer.

United cooled their interest in former Stoke City and West Ham United forward Marko Arnautovic after receiving a string of negative responses from the fanbase when pursuing the Austrian who plays for Bologna.

Milik has started both of Marseille’s Ligue 1 matches this season and he has 30 goals from 55 appearances for the French giants.

Milik has bagged 10+ goals in all competitions in his last four seasons and having banged in the goals with Napoli and Ajax as well, the 62-time Poland international has proven he has scored goals across Europe’s top leagues.

Marseille’s number nine has suffered some serious knee injuries during his career, but he has always bounced back and continued to bang in the goals.

As well as being left-footed, Milik would also give United a focal point such is his physical prowess.

The Pole may be a wildcard option but the clock is ticking on Manchester United’s transfer business and Ten Hag desperately needs to bring in new players before the window slams shut.
