Manchester United are being offered the chance to sign Toni Kroos – but this isn’t quite as appealing as it was in 2013.
United fans will remember some of the names that the club have missed out on in the transfer market.
Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos is probably one of the best examples.
Kroos to United rumours ran rampant around a decade ago but he ended up signing for Real Madrid from Bayern Munich in 2014.
Kroos later told The Athletic that a deal was almost done under David Moyes but his sacking saw the deal collapse, paving the way for his move to Spain.
Toni Kroos offered to Manchester United
The German has gone on to win the Champions League four times with Real whilst United have signed midfielder after midfielder.
United may finally have a chance to sign Kroos amid claims that he is being offered to Premier League clubs.
The Daily Star claim that United are among the Premier League clubs made aware of Kroos being available in 2024.
Chelsea, Manchester City and Newcastle United are also mentioned as Kroos looks to find his next club.
The 33-year-old has been in and out of the Real side this season and his contract expires at the end of the season.
United are being invited to move for Kroos but we really don’t think this is the right move for Erik ten Hag.

My view: Manchester United should avoid Kroos move
United were first looking at signing Kroos as a 24-year-old, viewing him as somebody who could make a difference for years to come in midfield.
Real Madrid found that theory to be true and have now got nearly 10 years of outstanding service out of Kroos.
The World Cup winner turns 34 in January though and this is the kind of move United need to be avoiding.
United cannot afford to sink funds into signing players coming to the end of their careers like Kroos.
United are seeing Casemiro struggle this season and maybe Real simply offloaded him at the right time, before a decline came.
The same goes for Raphael Varane, who hasn’t really replicated his Real form in a United shirt.
United have gone down this route before of paying ‘proven winners’ but without the trophies to back it up – and we would rather see United add fresh energy in the engine room rather than go for a veteran in Kroos.
