Manchester United are back in for Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo as the summer transfer window enters its final month.

United have enjoyed a productive window with major signings coming in for key positions.

Andre Onana and Mason Mount have arrived, giving Erik ten Hag a new goalkeeper and new midfielder.

A new striker appears to be on the way in too with United now closing in on signing Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund.

If United are to sign another player this summer, we would anticipate it being a midfielder with Sofyan Amrabat wanted.

However, there are new rumours linking United with a move to sign a new centre back before the transfer deadline…

Manchester United back in for Jean-Clair Todibo

The Daily Mail report that Nice centre back Jean-Clair Todibo has come ‘back into the reckoning’ for United.

We have seen rumours linking United with another French Ligue 1 defender in Monaco ace Axel Disasi.

Yet with Disasi now moving on to Chelsea, United are looking towards Todibo as a potential option.

French newspaper L’Equipe did suggest in June that both Disasi and Todibo were on the United radar.

Centre backs links have been quiet of late though, especially since Kim Min-jae moved to Bayern Munich.

Ten Hag and co may yet fancy adding Todibo though, which may well depend on offloading Harry Maguire first.

Who is Manchester United target Jean-Clair Todibo?

Todibo emerged at Toulouse and only made 10 first-team appearances for the club before being snapped up by Barcelona in 2019.

The 6ft 3in centre back failed to make the grade at the Camp Nou though and played just five times for the Catalan giants.

Loan spells with Schalke and Benfica didn’t help either and it’s only when Todibo headed on loan to Nice in 2021 that he got back on track.

A permanent move has allowed Todibo to settle down with Nice and become one of the top centre backs in Ligue 1.

A centre back with an impressive turn of pace, Todibo could be ideal competition for Raphael Varane in the United back line.

Nice will likely command a hefty price tag for Todibo, especially after seeing Chelsea fork out for Disasi.
