Manchester United are not currently planning to extend the contract of David de Gea, as per journalist Florian Plettenberg.
De Gea’s current deal expires at the end of the season and United have an option to trigger a one-year extension.
They have done that with Marcus Rashford to buy some time while they come to a satisfactory conclusion over a long term deal.
But Plettenburg says United are not even planning to do that at this stage with the man who has been their number one goalkeeper since 2011.

He says de Gea wants to stay at the club beyond the end of his current contract and extend his time as the first choice goalkeeper.
But Erik ten Hag is open to bringing in a new goalkeeper during his second summer transfer window in charge at Old Trafford.
De Gea’s ability as a shot-stopper is not in doubt and he resoundingly came back to form last season, winning the player of the season award.
But as a ball-playing goalkeeper, improvement is still needed although he has clearly done work in that area under Ten Hag.
Ten Hag may want a goalkeeper who is more aligned with his passing philosophy as he seeks to fully integrate his ideas at United.
It is not clear who that would be as a number of names have been banded around but nothing is certain until de Gea’s future is resolved either way.
De Gea’s salary is also an issue, as he is one of the highest earners at the club so any new deal may need to see those wages come down.
Ten Hag has so far dealt with the situation perfectly and in October, he did not give anything away, challenging de Gea to focus on his football.
