Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has been told to prove his worth to the club otherwise he will be allowed to leave for free next summer.
Erik ten Hag took a liking to Anthony Martial when he became manager of Manchester United in the summer of 2022, but that now seems to have changed.
With the addition of Rasmus Hojlund, United finally have a young, athletic and clinical striker that they can rely on throughout the season.
As a result of this, it seems Martial has become the man who has been pushed to the wayside and it now seems he is fighting for his future at Old Trafford.

Martial’s Manchester United future
According to a report from The Sun, United have given Martial an ultimatum: fight for your future and prove yourself, or leave the club next summer for nothing.
The French forward signed a new contract during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s time at the club which, according to Sky Sports, rewarded Martial with a £250,000-a-week contract.
That contract, however, was seemingly a mistake as the Frenchman’s injury issues have stopped him from kicking on at the club under Ten Hag.
As a result, it now seems only a matter of time before the Frenchman departs the club – eight months to be exact.
United’s striker search
Surprisingly, according to the same report from The Sun, they detail that the Red Devils are looking to add another goalscorer to their ranks next summer.
The report doesn’t state who this striker would be, but it does seem surprising that Ten Hag’s side are targeting another forward after spending £64 million on Hojlund.
A backup to Hojlund does make sense, due to the back injury that he suffered which could be an issue as the season goes on.
United need a striker they can rely on to be a good backup for the Dane, and Martial is not that.
