Anwar El Ghazi won’t be signing for Manchester United but he could be given the opportunity to secure a return to Ajax instead.
Ask anybody to guess who will be lining up out wide for United this weekend and you would probably receive a number of different answers.
Antony is taking an absence from the club right now and Jadon Sancho may or may not have a future under Erik ten Hag.
Amad Diallo isn’t available right now, so it may come down to Marcus Rashford and then one of Alejandro Garnacho or Facundo Pellistri to operate out wide.
That’s hardly ideal for United and we have subsequently seen a couple of rumours emerge about wingers this week.
Anwar El Ghazi and Oussama Idrissi linked
The Daily Mail reported earlier this week that United were considering a deal to sign free agent Anwar El Ghazi.
Released by PSV Eindhoven, El Ghazi has Premier League experience and is available right now, but the rumour was played down mere hours later.
The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell suggested that whilst El Ghazi was been offered to United, where was no genuine interest.
90Min added on Tuesday that former Ajax and Feyenoord wide man Oussama Idrissi had also been offered to United.
MORE UNITED STORIES
Idrissi is also a free agent right now having been let go by Sevilla at the start of the month.
A Moroccan international who played under Ten Hag at Ajax, Idrissi seems just about as likely to join United as El Ghazi; not very.

Ajax take a look at El Ghazi
United may have little interested in signing El Ghazi but he does seem to have interest from elsewhere.
De Telegraaf report that El Ghazi has now linked up with his former club Ajax for training.
The 28-year-old spent four years with Ajax earlier in his career, progressing after a move from Sparta Rotterdam as a teenager.
Ajax sold El Ghazi to Lille in 2017, months before Ten Hag took over in Amsterdam.
Ajax are seemingly having a look at El Ghazi with a view to potentially signing him, with boss Maurice Steijn keen to add another winger.
United appear to have said no to El Ghazi, but Ajax may well have a different answer if his training period goes well.
