Manchester United linked star channels David Beckham with ‘ridiculous’ wondergoal

Federico Dimarco channelled Manchester United legend David Beckham as the Old Trafford-linked left-back pulled off a ‘ridiculous’ goal during Inter Milan’s Serie A victory over Frosinone.

Now, David Beckham’s iconic strike against Wimbledon might have been a little further out – a floppy haired youngster wearing number ten rather than his iconic number seven letting fly from inside his own half all those years ago – but, in terms of pure difficulty, Federico Dimarco’s own Golazo probably has the edge.

Just ask Don Hutchison, the former Scotland, Everton and Liverpool midfielder watching in disbelief from TNT Sport’s commentary booth.

To execute such a finish from a standing start is one thing. To do it when running with the ball at full speed, however, is something else entirely.

Federico Dimarco scores Beckham-like Inter Milan wondergoal

“Stop the ride, I want to get off. That’s one of the best goals I’ve ever seen in my lifetime! That is unreal!,” Hutchison roars.

“To hit that shot from, what, 60 yards? With that accuracy, into the top corner? That’s one of the best goals I’ve ever seen, honestly. That technique is ridiculous. That is as high tariff as it gets. You can hit that shot when the ball is static but when it’s on the move…

“Goal of the Season, that’s what we’ve just seen.”

Manchester United are fans

According to The Independent, Dimarco has admirers at Manchester United. One suspects that, if Erik ten Hag knew what lay around the corner with regards to those long-term injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, the Man United boss may have made a more concerted effort to bring in an Italy international who, after his very own Beckham ‘96 tribute act, is unlikely to go under the radar for much longer.

One of hipster’s favourites hitting the mainstream at last.

“(Dimarco) has incredible qualities,” Inter coach Simone Inzaghi tells DAZN, the Nerazzuri back at the top of the Serie A. “It’s a goal you rarely see. I complimented him, he deserves (the praise).”
