Manchester United have signed one goalkeeper in Andre Onana but allegedly want to sign another in Altay Bayindir.

That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that United held talks to sign Fenerbahce stopper Bayindir last week.

It’s stated that Fenerbahce are willing to sell goalkeeper Bayindir for just £5million this summer.

That certainly fits into United’s budget but Bayindir is attracting interest from elsewhere too.

However, other clubs are in the mix for Bayindir with Ajax understood to be keen too.

Fenerbahce are even preparing for his exit by discussing a move for Dinamo Zagreb stopper Dominik Livakovic.

Bayindir must weigh up where he will get the most first-team football – and that may not be United.

Onana is on board as United’s new number one and that would leave Bayindir as number two, most likely settling for cup action.

Who is Altay Bayindir?

Bayindir spent time in the Bursaspor youth ranks as a kid but broke through with Ankaragucu.

After only 31 first-team appearances for Ankaragucu, Fenerbahce pounced with a 2019 deal.

The giant 6ft 6in stopper has now racked up nearly 150 appearances for Fenerbahce and five caps for Turkey.

Bayindir has shown confidence with the ball at his feet and has been hailed as a ‘special player’ by Fenerbahce president Ali Koc.

Despite only signing a new contract in March, Fenerbahce seem willing to sell the 25-year-old this summer and United are weighing up a deal.

More goalkeeping changes to come at Manchester United

We have already seen David De Gea leave the club this summer with Onana coming in to replace him.

That may not be the end of the goalkeeping changes though with Dean Henderson likely to join Nottingham Forest.

Loanee Jack Butland has moved on to Rangers and veteran stopper Tom Heaton has attracted Premier League interest.

United have been linked with Zion Suzuki and now Bayindir, so there could be more changes yet.

We saw see Bayindir targeted as competition for Onana with Heaton as an experienced third choice, allowing Suzuki to go out on loan.

That may be a dream scenario for United but much will depend on whether Bayindir wants United or Ajax.
