Manchester United have been offered the chance to make a late move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti.

It’s no great secret that United need to find another midfielder.

Wolverhampton Wanderers cut through United at will in the opening game of the season before Tottenham won the midfield battle against Erik ten Hag’s men too.

The midfield trio of Casemiro, Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes just hasn’t worked yet and another sitting midfielder is needed.

Fiorentina ace Sofyan Amrabat has been the top target for United but the wait for a deal goes on and on.

We’re now starting to hear more about potential alternative midfield targets, such as Amadou Onana, Ryan Gravenberch and now Marco Verratti.

Maroc Verratti offered to Manchester United

90Min now report that United have been offered the chance to make a late move for Paris Saint-Germain ace Verratti.

It’s stated that Verratti is hoping to finalise a move to Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli this week.

Verratti is understood to have agreed personal terms with Al Hilal last month but the deal fell through.

Al Hilal weren’t prepared to pay the £51million asking price but rivals Al Ahli now believe they can strike a deal.

Verratti is happy to make the move but intermediaries are exploring potential moves around Europe too.

United and Bayern Munich have been offered the chance to sign Verratti with both clubs seeking to sign new midfielders.

We can’t see United signing Verratti this summer

United were happy to pay up for one experienced, big-name midfielder last summer as Casemiro arrived from Real Madrid.

It’s unlikely that we see that again though, especially if the price tag for Verratti is still around £51million.

That price is much more than anything United would be expected to pay for top target Amrabat.

Sure, Verratti comes with a bigger reputation and more experience at the top level, but if United have been unable to fund a deal for Amrabat, then there is little chance of a deal for Verratti.

The Italian has been outstanding for PSG ever since joining from Pescara way back in 2012 but it looks like he’s heading for Saudi Arabia rather than Old Trafford.
