Manchester United remain interested in signing Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo but he could now cost around £50million.
What more can be said about Manchester United’s defending?
Wednesday’s 4-3 Champions League defeat to Copenhagen showcased the worst of United, with Raphael Varane’s error late on handing the hosts victory.
That’s four goals conceded against Copenhagen, four against Bayern Munich and three against Galatasaray in the Champions League.
United will surely have to look at defensive additions in 2024 with the name of Jean-Clair Todibo refusing to go away…
Manchester United could move for Jean-Clair Todibo in 2024
The Daily Mail reported over the summer that United were keen to sign Todibo from Nice.
No deal was done but United’s interest remains ahead of the January transfer window.
TEAMtalk now claim that United are expected to wait until the summer to push forward with a move for Todibo.
It’s claimed that Todibo may now cost nearly £50million because Nice are increasing their asking price.
Chelsea paid £39million to sign Axel Disasi from Monaco over the summer and Nice now want more than that figure for Todibo.
United seemingly don’t have plans to spend that much in the middle of the season, meaning it will take a wait for any Todibo bid.

Todibo could replace Varane after big comparisons
United are seemingly ready to spend next summer and the Manchester Evening News have highlighted four key targets.
One player United want is an ‘athletic’ centre back who can come in and compete with Varane.
Well, based on Varane’s lack of football lately, his injury record and his disappointing showings when he does play, maybe Todibo would be a replacement rather than competition.
That’s somewhat ironic given that Todibo has been compared to Varane in the past.
Todibo showed huge potential with Toulouse and, when Barcelona snapped him up in 2019, there tag of the ‘new Varane’ was labelled.
Former Toulouse teammate Manu Garcia admitted the similarities between the two, but whilst Varane became a Real Madrid hero, Todibo had to leave Barcelona to thrive.
Now wanted by United, Todibo may well be a marquee signing in 2024 with the idea of replacing Varane in the long-term at Old Trafford.
