Manchester United are keeping a watchful eye on Mike Maignan’s situation at AC Milan.

Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera report Manchester United have placed Mike Maignan on their shortlist.

Maignan was left unhappy with AC Milan’s decision to dismiss director Paolo Maldini earlier this month, The Mail reported.

United are looking at signing a new goalkeeper amid David de Gea‘s expiring contract and a desire to upgrade at the position.

Mike Maignan price set

AC Milan are reluctant to lose Mike Maignan and have set a high price for his services, with interest from Chelsea also reported.

Corriere della Sera report AC Milan would demand upwards of £80 million for Mike Maignan.

Maignan is regarded as one of the world’s top goalkeepers, having recently claimed the France number one spot.

He was an integral part of AC Milan’s 2021/22 Serie A title winning season and helped his side to reach the Champions League semi-finals last season.

Maignan, 27, is still under contract at AC Milan until 2026, so they are under no pressure to sell.

We wrote earlier in the transfer window how Maignan should be a player who United consider, however, Milan’s high asking price is likely to prove difficult.

Even Diogo Costa may be too rich for Manchester United at £65 million, with the club preferring to pay half that.

Maignan’s Milan rival Andre Onana, at Inter, is an alternative option, with United ‘weighing up a move’, report The Athletic.

Maignan might be worth the money, especially if United could knock the price down by £10-20 million, however, with a top striker also needing to be signed, the club need to split the budget wisely.
