Manchester United could now sign talented £100m striker for just £40m fee

Manchester United could have an opportunity to sign Roma striker Tammy Abraham for a lot less than he would have cost last year.

There is a chance Manchester United judge Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen as simply too expensive in the transfer market this summer.

That will leave United looking at alternative, cheaper solutions. One of those may turn out to be Roma striker Tammy Abraham, after Calciomercato reported the Red Devils sent scouts to watch him last month.

And according to The Mail, Abraham could now be available at just £40 million this summer.

Tammy Abraham’s new reported price tag is far cheaper than a year ago. The Mail reported in March 2022 that Roma would demand £100 million from any buying club.

That was in the midst of an impressive debut season at Roma in which he scored 27 goals for Jose Mourinho’s side, 17 in Serie A.

This season his figures have been more modest. He has netted only nine times, eight in the league. He does have five assists to his name – but his goalscoring is not where it was a year ago.

Still only 25, Abraham has high potential, as he showed last season, but this campaign has been a humbling one for him.

Roma are reported to be open to offers at £40 million, marginally over the fee they paid Chelsea. His former side have a buy-back clause, but at £70 million, The Mail report.

Sky Sports Italy reported earlier this year Abraham would be open to a return to England, and he could be the type of talented young striker who Erik ten Hag looks at and decides he can reach the next level.

Abraham has three international goals for England, and scored 30 times for Chelsea. He also struck 48 goals in the Championship across various loan spells early in his career.

His record of 126 league goals in 308 games is not a bad one. Marcus Rashford has 122 by comparison and Anthony Martial 110.

Abraham has talent to work with, and if Jose Mourinho is ready to trade him in, there is reason to believe Erik ten Hag could take him to a new level.
