Manchester United could miss out on Erik ten Hag’s dream signing as Real Madrid set to ‘finalise’ deal

Manchester United are on the verge of missing out on the transfer of Jude Bellingham for a second time.

The only upside to Manchester United missing out on Jude Bellingham in 2020 was the hope the club might be able to sign him for a more expensive deal in the future.

This summer is the window to sign Jude Bellingham – and The Telegraph has reported he is Erik ten Hag‘s dream signing.

Unfortunately, he appears to be heading to Real Madrid, with Marca reporting the Spanish side are set to seal the deal.

Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid

The report from Marca states Real Madrid are confident of finalising a deal for Jude Bellingham imminently.

They have reportedly been working behind the scenes to sign the midfielder for months and want to sign him to a deal until 2029.

Marca report Bellingham will sign for Real for around £100 million and will make him their top signing of the summer.

Manchester United were always outsiders for Bellingham, but with past interest and contacts already established, there was hope he could buy into Erik ten Hag’s project.

United are set to qualify for the Champions League next season, but it seems Bellingham’s mind has been made up.

Fabrizio Romano reports personal terms are agreed between Bellingham and Real Madrid.

Impact for United

Bellingham was a dream signing for United, but landing him would have taken up most of the club’s summer budget.

This money is required mainly to sign a striker, and now the funds can be directed appropriately, without temptation to spend elsewhere.

United will still look to strengthen in midfield, just with cheaper options than Bellingham. Moises Caicedo would be a top alternative, still expensive, but less so than the Real Madrid-bound star.
